The steel fabrication of the first 2,000-ton block for Makua was completed in March at Philly Shipyard. This will form the hull of the ship under the engine room. Once completed, it will go to the paint shop, and initial outfitting will start.
Makua is the first of three new Aloha Class vessels being built for Matson in support of our CLX service. Makua is scheduled to be delivered in October, 2026, with Malama, and Makena being delivered in April and December of 2027, respectively.
