- Matson offers seven arrivals from the West Coast to Hawaii every 14 days, more than any other carrier.
- Our schedule includes twice weekly service from Northern California.
- From Southern California, Matson offers twice-weekly service, with direct sailings from Long Beach to Honolulu every Saturday and Wednesday.
- In addition, Matson provides weekly Saturday departures from the Pacific Northwest.
Matson’s frequent, reliable schedules extend to each of the major ports of Hawaii’s Neighbor Islands: Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai; and Hilo and Kawaihae on the Big Island of Hawaii. Service is also available to the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

By calling one toll-free number, customers can quickly and easily obtain information pertaining to any aspect of doing business with Matson, including rate quotations, booking, billing, schedules, equipment needs, shipment status and problem resolutions.
For added convenience, Matson offers a Virtual Customer Support Center online, allowing customers to utilize today’s technology to book, track and handle their shipment information needs. Through the use of customized booking templates, customers can complete a booking with a minimal amount of “clicks.” Shipment tracking features allow customers to track the status of a container throughout its movement. Other online features include account balance information, tariffs, vessel schedules, submission of billing instructions, and retrieval of billing documents. The site also gives customers the option of contacting an account specialist while online to assist with a transaction.
In addition to our ocean transportation services, Matson is equipped to handle any inland transportation moves needed to deliver your freight to any of our West Coast port facilities. Shipping with Matson allows you to simplify the transportation process by using one carrier to arrange the entire move to Hawaii, regardless of the point of origin.

- CONTAINER YARD TO CONTAINER YARD (CY-CY) SHIPMENTS
This port-to-port service allows customers to deliver loaded containers to a convenient, efficient terminal and pick them up at the destination terminal. An approved equipment interchange agreement is required from your truck carrier to move Matson container equipment.
- STORE-DOOR SERVICES
In selected communities near Matson’s West Coast ports, Matson will arrange to deliver an empty container to the customer’s loading facility and pick it up when loaded.
- FULL INTERMODAL SERVICES
For shipments originating from or destined to points beyond the West Coast, Matson can arrange the complete transportation from origin to destination using connecting rail and/or truck services. Matson can move your Hawaii shipment to or from any point in the U.S., Canada or Mexico.
- ROLL-ON, ROLL OFF (RO/RO) SHIPMENTS
Service for non-container wheeled freight and trailers that can be rolled on and rolled off special vessels is available in Matson’sHawaii Service between the West Coast ports of Long Beachand Oakland and the Hawaiian ports of Honolulu, Kahului, and Hilo.
- NON-CONTAINERIZED FREIGHT SHIPMENTS
Matson can transport freight that may not fit in a container, including over-sized vehicles or heavy machinery.
- VEHICLE SHIPMENTS
Matson carries thousands of autos, trucks, buses, and tractors every year. Vehicles are transported in specially designed auto frames, in containers, or in secure garage stowage.
Matson offers a wide variety of container types and sizes to meet the needs of our customers. Our specialized equipment includes flat-racks, dedicated chassis and refrigerated containers. Refrigerated containers are available with the following optional service:
- TECTROL REFRIGERATED CONTAINER EQUIPMENT
Matson will furnish refrigerated containers specially equipped to use preservative gases. These containers use passive systems that introduce preservative gases into the container at the load port. We also will pay advance charges due suppliers of these gases subject to the collection of charges from the shipper or consignee.
