The relationship between Alaska and the ocean couldn’t be more important in a state with more shoreline than any other in the United States. That is why the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward works tirelessly to promote understanding and stewardship of this life-abundant yet fragile ecosystem.

To fulfill its mission, the Alaska SeaLife Center counts on the generosity of everyone from corporate sponsors to young citizen scientists. Matson has been one of those partners since 2019, and this year, it was recognized with the center’s Blue Planet Partner Award.

This is Matson’s second award from the center after earning the Alaska SeaLife Center Ocean Leadership Stewardship and Sustainability Award in 2021.

Matson’s cash and in-kind shipping contributions continue to prove invaluable. In-kind transportation of frozen fish, veterinarian supplies, and acrylic tanks for the SeaLife Center ensures that aquatic life continues to flourish. Matson’s sponsorship of the Rocky Coast Discovery Touch Pools inspires future biologists and stewards.

The partnership between Matson and the center demonstrates that together we can protect and preserve our marine ecosystems.
